Open Day

Our 2025 Open Day

Unfortunately, due to weather warnings for thunder storms from met office we had to cancel our 2025 open day but we hope the weather will be kinder to us next year. For details for what happened on our 2024 open day ,which did happen as planed, please read below.

Our 2024 Open Day was a huge success

We were very fortunate that the weather was kind to us on the day considering the build up we had!

Experts were on hand presenting on a wide range of topics covering;

  • Biodiversity in the local area

  • Moths and butterflies

  • Pollinators

  • Beetles

  • Bats

  • Bird ringing where we were lucky to see close up March Tits, Kingfisher and Woodpeckers plus many more species

Thank you to Charlie Parish for their brilliant photography, have a look through the slides below.

Some of the feedback from 2024 Open Day...

"Thank you for putting together such an interesting and informative day, in a beautiful setting."

"There was serious science delivered in an approachable way by enthusiastic and knowledgeable presenters."

"All the subjects had exhibits, which always brings a subject alive, and some of the exhibits were themselves ‘alive’. The bird ringing demonstration was a particular highlight. But in each case there was a ‘who knew’ that bit of knowledge."

"I thoroughly enjoyed every talk. Each one was extremely interesting and I found myself wanting to learn more about every topic covered."

"Thank you once again for a truly stimulating event. I came away with some snippets and facts that I was able to relay to my family when I got home and I read out the list of moth species that I had been shown and taken a note of!"
